For DoddieAid 2024 teams of cyclists from all over the UK will propel themselves across Europe through the bitter March weather to reach Rome ahead of the Scotland v Italy Six Nations match on the 9th March. All this to raise funds for the fight against MND.
The 801 Massif draws together 5 Veteran Doddie Aid Riders from Scotland, supported by a London-based support crew. Leaving from under the Forth Bridge on Friday 1st March, they aim to ride in to the Piazza Navona with the other teams and the match ball on the 8th March.
A big thank you to our Sponsors!
Meet the Riders
Drawing together riders from the World Famous Dalmeny 801,the Mighty Newport Massif and the marvellous Montvelo CC, the riding team is an imperfect blend of metaphorical hill-climbing goats and diesel engines who have done insane long distance rides before, but never anything this mad.
Meet the Support Team
The Support Team is of course vital to the well being of the riders….so says the Captain! That’s why he has picked a motley crew of family and friends who hate cycling. They can however drive, cook and organise stuff!
Edinburgh to Rome - The Route
Leaving from the shadow of the Forth Bridge north of Edinburgh early on the Friday morning the team will pedal south through the hilly Scottish Borders, passing through London on Saturday evening, before heading for Folkestone and the Channel Tunnel for an early train to Calais on the Sunday.
Passing through Reims and Chalon-sur-Saône, they will then cross the high obstacle of the Massif Central to Gap and then down to the Mediterranean coast at Monte Carlo. On Thursday morning they will pass in to Italy, heading round Pisa and on to Rome on Friday.
Sponsor us and a great cause
For this epic trip we are seeking businesses to support us with ‘in kind’ sponsorship. Any businesses out there who might be willing to support the trip and our great cause, please do get in touch.
Thank you!
The Cause
We are raising money for the wonderful ‘My Name’5 Doddie Foundation’. This foundation supports those affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a condition that has impacted a number of our close friends.
A big thank you to our Sponsors!
